This is a momentous time in Saginaw County’s history.
We are in the midst of the largest economic transition we have ever
seen. We are shifting from a region overwhelmingly dominated by
automotive manufacturing to a more diversified – and more adaptable –
economy.
Saginaw Future Inc. has been at the forefront of that
transition.
We played a critical role in securing Hemlock
Semiconductor’s expansion in its Saginaw County location – by working
closely with HSC, the State of Michigan and County and local
governments.
We worked closely with GM Saginaw Metal Casting
Operations and a number of public and private partners to help make
Saginaw the home of its expanded aluminum casting operation.
But behind these big stories are hundreds of smaller
ones – the work SFI has done to help Saginaw County’s economy grow.
Since our founding in 1992, we’ve provided assistance
with business planning, tax abatements, grants and special incentive
programs, worked as a liaison and negotiator with local, county, state
and federal governmental units
and
served as the “sales force” to market business locations in Saginaw
County.
In that time, our work has helped:
• 299 businesses expand existing operations in Saginaw County
• 81 new businesses move into Saginaw County
• area businesses secure 2,882 government contracts worth $142 million
• create more than 6,800 new jobs
• retain more than 4,500 existing jobs
• train more than 5,200 workers
• generate more than $3.7 billion worth of public and private
investment in the community
This is a momentous time in Saginaw Future’s history,
as well. If we are to continue the work we have been doing for 16
years ... if we are to continue building momentum for Saginaw County’s
economy ... if we are to continue creating new jobs and helping
businesses ... we need your help.
