Means Expands in 2003
June 30, 2003
Means builds $2.4 million expansion
Means Industries is a high-volume manufacturer of
sophisticated clutch plates, one-way clutches, complex engineered stampings
and welded subassemblies for the automotive industry.
As customer demand for Means’ products has increased over
the years, this high-volume manufacturer has recently taken steps to
increase its capacity even more.
In 2003, Means began constructing a 28,000 square foot
addition to its current facility in Buena Vista Charter Township — and they
are planning to purchase new equipment and add three new employees to their
operation, which already employs 400 people. Total project costs including
both the expansion and equipment are expected to exceed $2.4 million. To
assist Means Industries in their expansion, Saginaw Future facilitated
meetings with Buena Vista Charter Township to structure and secure critical
tax incentives.
Means Industries has manufacturing plants in several
Michigan communities, including Vassar, Saginaw and Melvindale. Means
Industries is owned by Amsted Industries, which holds a number of companies
that are leaders in the manufacture of precision industrial products and
other transportation products.
