In the 3rd quarter of 2007, SFI assisted six
companies that invested $1.22 million that will create nine jobs and retain
53 jobs.
Expansions
Allied Tool & Machine Co., located in Buena Vista Charter
Township, is expanding in order to meet increased orders and new contracts.
The company purchased new machining and computer equipment, and has expanded
one of its buildings, for a total investment of $375,575. Allied Tool and
Machine currently employs twenty-seven people and will add one full-time
position.
InCal Technologies expanded for the third time over the past year at
it’s recently opened location in Buena Vista Charter Township. The company
invested nearly $190,000 in capital improvements and the addition of
machinery. InCal Technologies specializes in providing dimensional
calibration and Zeiss inspection coverage.
Ranger Tool & Die Co. has completed its third investment in less than a
year. The company purchased $103,448 worth of CNC equipment, due to
increased demand for its products. Ranger Tool's latest purchase, which
will result in the hiring of a new employee, puts the total investment
amount by the company at just under $350,000 for the year. Ranger Tool is
located at 317 S. Westervelt Rd. in the City of Zilwaukee.
Saginaw Machine Systems and Wright-K Technology, Inc. have joined a
collaborative of 15 companies competing for one of two remaining Tool & Die
Recovery Zones. SFI, City of Saginaw and the Saginaw City Manager teamed up
to assist the companies with the incentive program that is new to Saginaw.
In addition to tax relief, the collaborative will provide networking
opportunities, potential for joint purchasing and the introduction to new
customers -- providing diversification and growth opportunities.
Zatkoff Seals & Packings added 5,000 sq. ft. of warehouse
space to its existing facility in the Bridgeview Center Industrial Park in
the City of Zilwaukee. The company also purchased new racking systems to
accommodate the increased inventory. Zatkoff Seals is a provider of
gaskets, o-rings and molded rubber products for a wide variety of industries
since 1959. The expansion project totaled $552,000 and will create one
job.
Worker Training Grants
Eight Saginaw County companies
received $150,000 in worker training grants through the Saginaw Midland Bay
Michigan Works! SFI partners with the organization in the application and
distribution process.
