Crary Re-Elected to International
Economic Development Board

The Board of
Directors of the
International Economic Development Council (IEDC) has re-elected JoAnn
T. Crary, President of Saginaw Future Inc. in Saginaw, Michigan, to its
Board of Directors. Appointments were announced at IEDC's 2008 Annual
Conference, which was held October 19-22 in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Crary will
serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2009.
"The International Economic
Development Council is the world's leading economic development organization
for professionals working in the field of economic development," said Ian
Bromley, IEDC's newly elected Chairman.
"As Vice Chair for the last
year, it has been my pleasure to work with Ms. Crary, and I look forward to
our continued collaboration as IEDC moves forward with its goals of
proffering quality information, education and development opportunities in
what is, perhaps, the most challenging climate for economic development in
recent years." Bromley also appointed Crary to serve on the Planning &
Business Development Committee, the IEDC Audit Committee and Chair of the
Sustainable Business Committee (related to renewable energy).
Ms. Crary has held the
position of President of Saginaw Future, a non-profit, economic development
entity for Saginaw County, since 1993. Prior to becoming President, she
served as the organization's Executive Vice President, Executive Director of
the Saginaw Area Growth Alliance and in various economic development roles
in Saginaw County since the early 1980's.
Ms. Crary is a member of
the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Executive Committee,
Chairs the Human Resources Committee and serves on its Finance Committee.
She is also on MEDC's CEO Advisory Council, the Saginaw County Revolving
Loan Fund Board, Saginaw Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Saginaw
Community Foundation, SVSU Board of Fellows, Citizens Bank Market Area
Board, MMR Finance Committee and the Saginaw Hospital Finance Authority.
Additionally, Ms. Crary is
a member of the Saginaw Valley Manufacturers Association and the Saginaw
County Chamber of Commerce, which honored her with the Athena Award in 2006.
In 2001, the Michigan Economic Developers Association (MEDA) named her as
the MEDA Medalist Award winner. Ms. Crary received the State Director's
Award from the Michigan Small Business Development Center in 1997, and was
honored by Governor Engler in 1996 as an Economic Developer of the Year for
outstanding contributions in economic development.
A Certified Economic
Developer, graduate of the University of Oklahoma's Economic Development
Institute and certified Economic Development Finance Professional, Ms. Crary
completed her undergraduate degree from Ferris State University and has a
graduate degree (MSA) from Central Michigan University.
