Saginaw, Mich., part of the Great Lakes Bay Region, November 21, 2018 The recent Discover Great Lakes Bay Coming Home Mixer connected more than 120 young professionals, who are currently in the region or have left and are interested in coming home, with 29 world class regional employers. Those employers have specific positions available; click here to view the list .

Retaining and attracting talent is the number one issue for both existing companies and those considering a location in the Great Lakes Bay Region prompting Saginaw Future Inc. and its economic development partners   to spearhead the talent attraction and retention initiative.

Discover Great Lakes Bay is a collaboration made up of economic development organizations from Arenac, Bay, Clare, Isabella, Gladwin, Gratiot, Midland and Saginaw Counties. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Eastern Central Michigan Council of Governments provided grant support and Saginaw Valley State University was a key partner, providing assistance from a Program Coordinator and support from its Cardinal Solutions program .

The Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce and chambers from across the region, along with Young Professional Networks helped to market the Coming Home Mixer. Amy Cell Talent was the consultant, who helped developed the strategy.

Alumni associations from Alma College, Central Michigan University, Davenport University, Delta College, Mid Michigan College, Northwood University, and Saginaw Valley State University helped to generate awareness. A digital marketing plan was also created to target any young professional with ties to the region or has interest in living and working in the Great Lakes Bay Region

The first Coming Home mixer was held at Saginaw Valley State University’s Curtiss Hall , in the early afternoon on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Attendees receive FREE appetizers and two drink tickets for craft beers from Mountain Town Brewing Co. in Mt. Pleasant, including the Iron Horse IPA, Steam Engine Stout & Raspberry Wheat, with additional beer and wine options available.

The featured Coming Home speaker was Digital Mitten President Jeff DeHaven , who has immersed himself in digital marketing for more than 15 years creating solutions for companies of all sizes. He spoke on why he chose to start his business in the Great Lakes Bay Region. The Coming Home mixer also featured a video project that highlights the Great Lakes Bay Region, a DJ, giveaways and casual networking.
