Higher Education

Saginaw County is a destination for higher education and the Region has one of the highest concentrations of PhDs per capita in the entire country. We also have top technical talent and a skilled manufacturing workforce - all of whom benefit from convenient access to premier educational institutions. Saginaw County is home to five universities and two community colleges and has recently invested $14 million in STEM education initiatives at the college level.

Central Michigan University has a campus in Saginaw, as does Saginaw Valley State University and Delta College.  Northwood University, Alma College, Davenport University, and Mid Michigan Community College are all located in the Region. Together, they offer a wide variety of educational opportunities to more than 45,000 students.

In addition, local institutions are offering educational programs to high school students. For example, Saginaw Valley State University hosted the First Robotics Competition State Championship, drawing thousands of high school competitors.

Adults are benefiting from local educational partnerships as well. Saginaw Valley State University, in partnership with the SBDC, is supporting local entrepreneurs looking to learn business skills.
