Saginaw, Mich., part of the Great Lakes Bay Region, September 8, 2016 - “The Gallery, Art for Saginaw” is pleased to announce its upcoming opening in the heart of Saginaw’s Entertainment District located in the beautiful & historic Bancroft Building. “The Gallery, Art for Saginaw” is set up as a non-profit organization, whose mission is threefold 1) provide a space for talented Michigan artist to display and sell their art work. 2) provide a space for the community to discover, enjoy and purchase contemporary art from Michigan artists.  3)  to benefit the youths of Saginaw through various education initiatives developed by the Saginaw Art Museum; these programs are designed to cultivate awareness, appreciation and love of the arts.  

Director, Lisa Comer said “By promoting a love and knowledge of art within today’s youth; we believe this generation and future generations will more greatly appreciate the importance of art in society and continue to create and preserve art for future generations.”  

The Gallery, Art for Saginaw occupies 5,000 square feet; making it one of the largest galleries in Michigan.  Director, Lisa Comer, stated “I chose downtown Saginaw because of the rapid revitalization occurring, the close proximity to the Tri-City’s Entertainment District and the upsurge of new and emerging artists in the area.  The Bancroft Building was my choice location, I liked its vibrancy, that it is an enduring piece of architectural art and that it offered a beautiful flowing space for The Gallery.” 

The Gallery, Art for Saginaw will open late October or early November 2016.  The Gallery is selectively reviewing art submissions by talented Michigan artists (artists who studied, were born, who have or have had residency in Michigan).  All types of art will be considered for display with an emphasis on modern contemporary art.

Michigan artists can access our website, www.ArtForSaginaw.com, to review additional information and the procedure for submitting their art work for consideration.  The average price of selected art work will fall in the $200 - $2,000 range, to ensure that residents of Saginaw County and surrounding areas will be comfortable purchasing and enjoying the authentic art work of talented Michigan artists. 

In addition to being a first class art gallery with affordable prices, The Gallery will host instructional art classes, taught by local art instructors.  We will also offer what is a new trend throughout the country, combining beginner art classes with wine tasting.   The Gallery, Art for Saginaw will also be available for private parties and charity events.  

The Gallery address is located at 104 E. Genesee in the Bancroft Building in downtown Saginaw.  Hours of operation are Tuesday thru Saturday 12:00 – 6:00 pm.  Please see our website for additional information on dates & times of classes and events.
