Connecting Young Professionals with Employers

Saginaw, Mich., part of the Great Lakes Bay Region, November 2, 2020 Join Discover Great Lakes Bay for a virtual networking experience that will offer an opportunity for young professionals who are currently in the region or have left and are interested in coming home. The event will feature world-class employers and representatives who live in our outstanding communities. Those employers have specific positions available; go to http://discovergreatlakesbay.com/coming-home/ to view the list.

The Great Lakes Bay Region has hosted two very successful Coming Home Networking Mixers. The events brought together employers and young professionals in a relaxed atmosphere to encourage young professionals to take a fresh look at the region and the career opportunities that exist here. We have pivoted to make this year’s event virtual and have partnered with eight regions around the state to host a Back To Michigan week. It is series of virtual networking events, sponsored by Consumers Energy and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, for people interested in relocating to Michigan, and current residents who are unemployed, will be able to speak directly with hiring employers.

Alumni of Alma College, Central Michigan University, Davenport University, Delta College, Mid Michigan College, Northwood University, and Saginaw Valley State University have all been invited to attend the Coming Home virtual event. Any young professional with ties to the region or has interest in living and working in the Great Lakes Bay Region is welcome.

Retaining and attracting talent is the number one issue for both existing companies and those considering a location in the region prompting the talent attraction and retention initiative. The Discover Great Lakes Bay Talent Initiative is a collaboration made up of economic development organizations from Arenac, Bay, Clare, Isabella, Gladwin, Gratiot, Midland and Saginaw Counties.
