Saginaw Future Inc. (SFI) is seeking resumes for the Community and Economic Development Coordinator position. Individual should be a motivated self-starter with and entrepreneurial spirit, responsible for working as a team to implement SFI’s vision for the future. The Community and Economic Development Coordinator shall understand the importance of traditional economic development initiatives along with creative ways to create attractive places.
Description: Community and Economic Development Coordinator will work as part of the SFI team to meet with local businesses and discuss their plans for the future and barriers to growth. Through training and research about local and state programs/tools, individual will help businesses develop a competitive business case resulting in job creation, retention and new investment. The Community and Economic Development Coordinator will also work with the Saginaw Downtown Development Authority on their key focuses of safety, beautification, business assistance and marketing.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business or a related field
- At least two years of experience in economic development or at a chamber of commerce
- Understanding of Brownfield Plans, Tax Increment Finance, Tax Abatements and other economic development tools is preferred, and training will be provided.
- Must be an action-oriented team player with a positive attitude, must be able to take direction and have a desire to learn new skills; must be able to multi-task and work on a variety of project types with short deadlines.
- Knowledge of placemaking and economic development practices and principals at the local, regional and state levels is desired.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; must exercise good judgement, understand discretion and confidentiality, and have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with business and property owners, board members and elected officials.
- Experience with CRM software (Salesforce preferred) along with Microsoft Office 365 (desired).
- Excellent time management and organizational skills are needed along with ability to research and write grant applications.
